This production of Bernard Shaw’s classic drama The Devil’s
Disciple, starring Tyrone Power, played a week at the Manchester Opera
House* from 20 February 1956 before flopping in London after just 36
performances at the Winter Garden. This rare Manchester flyer and programme are
in superb condition with only the most minor signs of wear. The 10cm by 15.3cm flyer
names the cast on one side with a photo of Power on the other. The 14.7cm by
22.7cm programme has 12 pages and includes a cast list.
Also in the cast were Joan MacArthur, Dorothy Bromiley, James
Bree, David Langton, Clare Austin, Peter Collingwood, John Scott, Betty Turner,
John Gill, Nancy Nevinson, John Gray, Lockwood West, Noel Willman and Stringer
Davis (Mr Margaret Rutherford).
