Old, original wooden duck decoy.
Black paint which has faded to a charcoal gray color over the years.
Remnant of white paint at the sides ( wings ).
About 13.75" long, about 5.5" wide, about 6" tall.
This is a " silhouette " type floating wooden decoy.
Both the head and the body are pine wood.

Not sure exactly how old this duck is, but the two sections of the body are pinned together with wooden pegs.
The head/neck section is notched into the body, and held in place with a pair of old, round-head nails.
I suspect this decoy is quite old, possibly late 1800s or early 1900s.

There is a metal rod ( a large nail ? ) in the top of the head.
The head/neck split long ago ( see the photos ), but is still firmly attached.

Obtained in New England.
Probably carved by a long-ago duck hunter who couldn't afford a fancy, store-bought decoy - so he made his own.
Primitive, made by hand many years ago, and a reminder of a bygone era.

Carefully packed for shipment to the buyer.
