Brand new aftermarket component of good quality and each unit is fully bench tested here in the UK to ensure it is 100% functional and ready to fit.
This "Ignition Module" or optical sensor is mounted in the base of the distributor assembly and reads the engine position. It is a sensitive electrical component and whilst generally reliable they do eventually degrade and a recent increase in this occurrence has been noted. When the installed unit fails the engine may present with a running fault such as a misfire in part of the rev range, or not start up at all.
No specialist equipment is required to fit this component, but care should be taken to strip out and rebuild the distributor unit correctly to avoid damage to any parts. Please also be advised that some distributors have a slightly different internal structure that require a couple of bumps to be sliced off the ABS plastic body moulding of the new CAS unit with a sharp knife.
