Antique maple syrup/sap wooden bucket with red paint.  It measures 11 1/4 inches for top diameter, 9 3/4 bottom diameter and 9 inches tall. The makers name impressed on the bottom--N & J Howe Co. made in Fitzwilliam New Hampshire (see photo third photo). Nice rare primitive bucket with tight staves. Circa 1850's-1860's.

Information that I found on N & J Howe Co.:

Nahum Howe built a saw mill, stave mill and chair back manufactory in 1850 that was located on road 31 in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire. It is operated by water-power and a twenty horse-power engine. It also appears that Nahum Howe owned a store from 1848-1849 in Fitzwilliam and in 1853 he opened a store in Howeville that operated until 1867 when he closed his manufacturing business.
