Here on offer is a rare antique Thomas Webb & Sons Melbourne, Made in England silver plated sugar bowl, c1900

Thomas Webb & Sons, Melbourne” was an expensive Melbourne store, which operated from c1882 to 1930. It was an agent for Elkington & Co., it is possible that this is a piece by them.

This heavy silver plated bowl has an ovid shape with a textured bark-like finish to the body. It has a smooth polished neck, foot and handles. The rim is beautifully fluted. The foot or base is gently curved. The handles are sinuously looped.

       The piece is in good order with some scratches on the base out of sight, there are also a couple of marks on the handles.

The bowl measures about 7.5cm by 13.5cm at the widest point, by 9.5cm
