"Mars At Its Nearest" by George Hall Hamilton, Published "imprimeries réunies" Dinard, France, 1925, First Edition, Printed In Very Limited Quantity. A very rare publication on Mars. Published and printed in a small commune in France however the text is in English. Contains 9 full page illustrated plates of Mars. In Good overall condition; light shelf wear to original illustrated Soft Cover wraps; Binding has loosened on pages 32/33 (see photos).

George Hall Hamilton was born in London, to American parents, on 1884 January 31. He was the son of John McLure Hamilton and Clara Augusta Hamilton. He was brought to the United States in infancy, but returned to England to complete his education, and proceeded to Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He was appointed Professor of Astronomy at Bellevue College, Nebraska, 1910. From 1917 to 1922 he was an astronomer at the Lowell Observatory, and from 1922 to 1924 he was attached to the Harvard Observatory and was at its Jamaica branch. From 1924 onwards he worked "free-lance". He was an enthusiastic observer of Mars, and an exponent of the hypothesis that the Planet is inhabited by intelligent beings. Measures 14cm x 22.5cm.
