Wulfenite
Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico

55 grams
6.2 x 6 x 2.5cm (2.4 x 2.3 x 1in)

This is a great example of the famous 'Sandwich Wulfenite', named for its sandwich-like appearance created from alternating layers of yellow and brown wulfenite. This specimen has unusually large crystals with the largest measuring 8mm across. A single pocket, discovered in May 2017, is the source for all the specimens on the market. Last I heard this pocket is completely mined out and others like it have not been found so supply is limited.

The Ojuela Mine is famous for its diverse and quality mineral specimens. Originally a silver, gold, and lead mine, it has been active for over 350 years. Today it is primarily mined for mineral specimens.
