This is from the "golden-age" early years of
what became one of the many "audiophile" standards
in recording technology, along with the legendary
Mercury Living Presence series. While this is
the "mono" version of a much harder to find Stereo box set,
It still has the same great dynamic range, natural sound,
detailed separation of instruments and voices, crisp
high frequencies and everything else except for the
stereo "soundstage" experience. This actually works
to your advantage for having a really fun listening party:
no worries or arguments over who gets to sit in the
stereo "sweet spot". Everyone can sit around the speakers
in no particular order, and the worst that will happen is
that your opera loving friends might have to negotiate
over who gets to read what part of the amazing Libretto
booklet that comes with this set!
