Dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of one of the founders of the Ukrainian professional theater, playwright, actor, director, public and cultural figure of Ivan Karpovich Karpenko-Kary (Tobilevich), who gave the masters of the stage and the audience real pearls dramatic. The play created it, constitute an era in the Ukrainian drama.

Obverse: above the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the semicircular inscription NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE; in the center of a stylized composition: on stage, topped symbol theater - masks of comedy and tragedy, a fragment of the play, with ramp cartouche hanging with inscriptions Hazyayin` `,` A hundred tysyach` as a symbol of infinite talent Karpenko-Kary; beneath - denomination 2 hryvnia coin issue year 2015 (right) and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine (left).

On the coin depicts a composition symbolizing directing and acting talents Ivan Karpenko-Kary: he - puppeteer puppets of his heroes, right - his family farm; top semicircular inscription Ivan Karpenko-Kary, and years of life 1845 - 1907 (left).
