A vintage fur sewing machine in good working order. Obviously, it can be used with artificial fur, leather, and similar.

It is an American-made machine and is probably several decades old (and it should last many more decades).

It is designed to be belt-driven but is not supplied with a table or motor. I guess it could be mounted to a used sewing machine motor of a treadle table (I have even seen an example on YouTube where it has been converted to hand-winding by mounting a handle via a large Jubilee clip to the flywheel). The buyer WILL have to mount it to a table or desk, and provide a form of power (probably from a re-purposed second-hand sewing machine motor).

The machine operates smoothly when turned by hand and has been lubricated regularly.

You will note the chain hanging from the bottom. This is for releasing the two ‘cups’ at the front and, if necessary, it would be easy to make this longer (it would normally be attached to a pedal).

Please note that the screws that hold the top part of the machine to the baseplate were missing. I have replaced them apart from one where the screw has sheared off. The remaining three should hold it adequately.

It is fitted with a needle and I strongly suggest that the first thing that the buyer does is to measure the needle and purchase a few more as, due to the nature of the machine and the narrow needles used, needle breakages are very likely (don’t leave this until later). Furthermore, because the machine hasn’t been used for a while, I recommend that the buyer uses a bit of scrap material to both practice on, and also to remove any old surface oxidisation that may be present.

As you can see, it is supplied with a thread spindle arm for feeding thread to the machine.

It is not supplied with instructions but YouTube is your friend on how to use one of these, and how to thread them.
