TERRAPIN FLY REEL Series:

We spent nearly 4 years in research and design work and one year of field testing to create the best sealed drag fly reel we possibly could. The goal this time was a 100% sealed drag fly reel that would again rival the big name manufacturers but at a fraction of the price. Once again, we have accomplished this goal!

Producing a whopping 14lbs of drag out of the box, the Terrapin is ready to take on anything from Trout to Tuna! That’s more than three times the power of reels that cost three times as much! These fly reels were designed for a serious fight. We also listened to our customers that own the Torrent, our staple reel. They wanted a 100% sealed drag system that was still serviceable, lighter weight, smoother startup, slightly larger arbor, slightly larger handle and an equal drag power. The Terrapin features all of those things!

All the reels in the Terrapin series are machined from 6061 T-6 bar stock aluminum and are type II double anodized for maximum durability. The drag surface of the Terrapin is made up of stacked Rulon discs, a material rather new to the fly reel industry that has unbelievable CRGII Series:

Saltwater Fly Fishing Reels!

This CRGII Fly Reel was officially released in October of 2007. In the last couple years the GII has proven itself to be an excellent saltwater fly reel as well as a heavy-duty freshwater reel at a very affordable price. Anglers chasing everything from Steelhead and Stripers to Albies and Bonito will need nothing more than the CRGII to get the job done! If you liked the CRGI you will love the CRGII.

The CRGII is machine cut from aerospace grade 6061-T6 Bar stock Aluminum. The drag surface is Teflon impregnated cork disk that operates off of two stainless steel ball bearings while utilizing a one-way stainless clutch bearing to engage the drag. The oversized clutch bearing is the same that is used on most top end spinning reels today resulting in virtually zero back play before drag engagement (Otherwise know as “Super Stopper”). The CRGII requires no tools to convert from left to right hand retrieve. The quick-change spool also requires no tools and features a captive release nut to prevent losing it in the water. All construction of the CRGII series is done with machined aluminum or stainless steel. The handle on all CRGII reels is made from machined Delrin. Every reel in this series is built for use in fresh and saltwater. As always the CRGII also carries the Colton lifetime warranty.
