- The Sphere inner Glass painting depicts the scene painted based on the original scroll of famous Song Dynasty painter Zhang Zeduan (1085–1145), titled "Along the River during the Qingming Festival", also known by its Chinese name as the Qingming Shanghe Tu (Simplified Chinese: 清明上河图 Traditional Chinese: 清明上河圖).
- It captures the daily life of people and the landscape of the capital, Bianjing (present-day Kaifeng) during the Northern Song. The theme is often said to celebrate the festive spirit and worldly commotion at the Qingming Festival, rather than the holiday's ceremonial aspects, such as tomb sweeping and prayers. Successive scenes reveal the lifestyle of all levels of the society from rich to poor as well as different economic activities in rural areas and the city, and offer glimpses of period clothing and architecture. The particular painting scene is considered to be the most renowned work among all Chinese paintings, and it has been called "China's Mona Lisa"
- The famous original scroll scene is painted along the glass sphere (northern and southern hemispheres)
- A special technique by Master Craftsman is used to paint the glass from inside using a fine brush through a working opening space at the bottom of the sphere of just 20mm. The painting includes 500 people depicted on the sphere in magnificent detail.
