"Vivaldi" Sterling Silver Flatware

by

ALVIN SILVER COMPANY

(a subsidiary of GORHAM SILVER)

HISTORY & STYLE of the PATTERN

When Gorham Silver bought the Alvin Silver Company in 1928,

Alvin’s design and manufacturing operations were relocated

from Sag Harbor, New York to Providence, Rhode Island.

Under Gorham’s direction, Alvin Silver produced“Vivaldi” from 1966 to 1991.

“Vivaldi” is a tribute to the Baroque-era composer Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, whose sprightly music exemplified the romantic ornamentation of the Baroque period (from about 1600 to 1750 in Europe).  The stem of each implement is a showcase of lavish design: deep bas-relief carving to give the illusion of reticulation (piercing); beading around the prominent mini-cartouche; and swooping Bodoni-style ornamentation of stylized leaves, bouquets, and cascades of flowers... placed in dramatic contrast to the plain shaft flanked by simple threading.  Unusual for flatware, the design is repeated on the back of the stems.

Vivaldi” is a pattern to use for celebrating special occasions,

or by those who put into practice their belief that

every day is a special occasion worth celebrating.

PROFESSIONAL POLISHING, CLEANING, PACKING, SHIPPING

Here at US Coins, we take great pride in providing excellent service to our customers.

That might be why we have such a loyal following!

One of the services we provide for sets of sterling flatware is that we hand-polish it on a jewelers wheel, then we clean it from the polishing process.  And we don’t charge extra for this extra care.  (Other vendors charge $5-7 to polish EACH PIECE!)When the set is delivered to you, it is ready for immediate use and enjoyment.

We have a dedicated person on staff to package fine silver for shipping.  He puts each piece in its own poly bag, then he carefully packs everything in a sturdy carton, layering it and cushioning it to distribute the weight and to prevent damage.  Finally, your silver is shipped well insured.

Why go through all this effort?  We want you to love your silver as much as we do, and we want US Coins to be your favorite source for vintage and antique fine silver!

WHO WE ARE, and WHY WE’RE YOUR BEST CHOICE

ENI (Eastern Numismatics Inc.) is a multi-generation, family-run company that began in 1974.

Initially the enterprise was only for buying and selling rare coins and gold & silver bullion

-- hence the easy-to-remember ‘US Coins’.

Over time we expanded into other pre-owned valuables: jewelry, sterling tableware, and other collectibles.

What we came to realize was this:

we’re different from other merchants in the same line of business.

We give honest appraisals when buying,

and we sell at a fair price.

Candidly, we don’t chisel, and we don’t gouge.

Customers sometimes tell us their sad tales of woe,

being ‘taken advantage of’ by dealers who prey on the unknowledgeable.

We don’t do that.

I guess our mother raised us rightThanks, Mom!
