    This is the one very popular cleaning item everyone with open reel decks should use and it's been a while since we could get the poly fabric blend we need for this handy tape, but we scored and found it being made right here in the United States.  This cleaning wipe tape is for 1/4" open reel tape decks that DO NOT have tape head pressure pads. The pressure pads were part of a system found on some 1960s and early 1970s European Ferrograph and Grundigs for instance, where metal plates with felt pads would press the tape against the heads for *better contact*. 

    Our AC1CL6101 cleans and polishes your heads and guides edge to edge in those hard to get places like the corners of the guides which you can not get with a cotton tipped applicator, and it's non-abrasive.   Corner edges are very prone to dirt buildup which can score your tapes, cause them to shed, and ruin them.  There's enough tape on the roll for 100 seconds @7.5IPS which is plenty of play time to clean your deck.  Feel free to use a slower speed, and it can be used over and over until tape is dirty.  The pro 5" reel itself can be used for other purposes after the tape is used up.

    Simply put AC1CL6101 onto your deck and play it through like you would play a recording.   Rewind, and store.  If your deck is very dirty, add four or five drops of alcohol (not included) through the threading slot in the reel flange, and play. Do not drench the tape with fluid.  Allow reel to dry before packing away. 

    Don't forget, if one side gets dirty, you can use the other side of the tape. Hint: Just twist the tape 180 degrees, and play it through. Then the tape sides will be swapped. Also, you can put a Sharpie mark on the ends of the beginning so you don't mix the sides up, like maybe a "1" on side one and a "2" for the other.

    Some of our customers are splicing a section of this cleaning tape into their leader tape to auto clean the deck before every use.  This makes a lot of sense because you know your deck will always be clean!Works best with professional and prosumer decks, or decks using foil to stop or reverse, because they do not use an optical sense to trigger.  If your deck uses optical sensing like a Revox A77 and some Tandbergs for instance, you might need to  put a color sleeve over the sensing bulb, or block the light in some other way like stick a small piece of dark tape on it to block the light.   Each deck is different, but we use a small piece of black tubing we simply slip over the bulb on Revox A77s to clean them.  Super easy.

    We recommend using this tape often to keep your heads and guides clean and polished.  A smoother surface means less tape wear.  Your tapes will appreciate it!
