Legendary Jake LaMotta and Irish Bob Murphy fought in a LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CONTENDERS battle scheduled for 12 rounds. This was Murphy's biggest win, LaMotta appeared to be poorly prepared for the bout plus fight in a heavier weight class than his middleweight title days. The match stopped when LaMotta could not answer the bell for the eighth round. LaMotta and Murphy fought again win LaMotta winning.
