Black Amber, Sumatra 2-3".

Fossilised tree resin and is approximately 20-100 millions years old. Most amber is typically found in the Baltic region, but recently a different variety of amber was discovered in Sumatra, South-East Asia. Unlike Baltic amber which often contains bits of bark, trapped air bubbles, and sometimes insects, Sumatran amber has relatively less of these inclusions and features darker coloured areas within its reddish-cognac body that resemble the spots of a leopard. The other main difference between the two is that Sumatran amber also has an optical feature that displays a reddish hue under incandescent light and a blue fluorescence under UV light. Baltic amber does not display either of these optical phenomenons.

Sumatran amber is not heated, clarified, or treated.

As with all organic gemstones, do not use harsh chemical cleaners to clean your amber, instead use mild soap and warm water.
