Description

Laser Etched Crystal Glass showing a three-dimensional laser image of Nagoya Castle, one of the most prominent castles in Japan.
Doubles as a paperweight, it makes a great decor piece to attract attention.

Nagoya castle was built in the beginning of the Edo Period (the early 17th century) in order to ward off the attacks from the western regions of the country. Nagoya Castle, the best designed, most elegant of samurai castles was the largest Japanese castle by floor space. Until World War 2, Nagoya Castle was the best preserved of all the castles in Japan, and in 1931 was the first castle to be designated a National Treasure. But unfortunately, it was destroyed in the air raids of 1945.

About My Store

My store provides Japanese Seto-yaki porcelain figurines. 'Seto-yaki' is a general term for porcelain products made in Seto Japan. Seto is a city located in the center of Japan, and is also the center for Japan's ceramics industry. From Occupied Japan Era to the late '70s, Seto-yaki items under various brand names used to be exported worldwide. However, as the ceramics industry has been declining year by year, many manufacturers have been forced to shut down their factories in the last few decades. Now there are still lots of vintage products and reproductions available from local stores out there. If you want to find treasure pieces in Japan, visit my ebay store at any time.
