This is a very large piece of the unusual Pietra Paesina Marble which has been sliced and polished on one face only.
Pietra Paesina Marble stone is actually a unique variety of limestone which can be found in the Northern Apennine mountain areas of Italy. It is also known as Landscape Stone, or Ruin Stone or Marble. It is a sedimentary stone mainly made of
compressed limestone and clay formed in sea beds about 50 million years
ago where micro-fractures resulting in layer
slides creating the the 'ruin' appearance.
This slab weighs 1158g and measures 25cm x 21cm and 13mm thick. (All weights and measures are approximate)
It is a beautiful piece which will appeal equally to collectors, for Lapidary work or to display in the home.
