Here is a beautiful rare original Automatic Electric  #2 telephone. These are seldom seen and sought by serious collectors. It was the 1st self contained telephone made by this company. It is mostly  heavy bakelite which has been nicely polished and the cradle is painted brass. The handset bands and hardware have new nickle plating. New black cloth cords have been added. A real beauty. Sure to go up in value.

This  is about as ART DECO as it gets.

Its beautiful black bakelite is polished to a high luster and it is crack and chip free. It has beautiful replated nickel covered brass bands and a nickel plated fingerwheel and number card ring.

The dial has a nice metropolitan (numbers and letters) porcelain dial plate in mint condition. The telephone itself is made of black bakelite. All bakelite is like new and we painstakenly polished all the bakelite to a high gloss.

We have been restoring telephones for 18 years.  We love what we do and it shows.

This telephone was the first one that Automatic Electric made that was self-contained meaning that it had its own ringer inside instead of a separate ringer box. It looks like the molded to a subset or ringer box. These are one of my favorites and this one is a real beauty.

You used to see these more often. Now they are mostly only in the hands of serious collectors and seldom seen.

The Handset and line cord have nice matching woven black cloth cords. The line cord has a modular plug so you can just plug it in and use this antique telephone. It has a wonderful ring.
