PHILLIPS de PURY & COMPANY'S SALE OF 20-21ST CENTURY DESIGN ART TOTALS $4.3 MILLION SETTING SEVEN ARTIST RECORDS The December 8th Design sales at Phillips de Pury & Company opened with the Masterworks from the Collection of Alexander von Vegesack, "VV", curator of Vitra Design Museum. It was a focused collection of industrial techniques and advances in materials of the 20th century representing the design movements. The highlights of the sale were Lot 55, Jean Prouvé, Table Trapèze, circa 1951 sold for $273,600, Lot 52, Jean Prouvé, Cité armchair circa 1933 sold for $108,000 and Lot 9, Ron Arad, Unique Prototype "Little Heavy" chair, 1989, sold for $64,800. The afternoon various owners session of the 20-21st Century Design Art sale showed continued strength in the contemporary design movement and also important works from the mid-century including Lot 129, Carlo Mollino, Dining Suite which sold for $198,000. Other important Italian works such as Lot 165, Joe Colombo, Rare "Personal Container" circa 1964 sold for $78,000 - a record for the artist. Other artist records include Lot 61, Denham Maclaren, Rare armchair circa 1930 sold for $55,200, Lot 203, Forrest Myers, La Farge chair, 1988 sold for $46,800, Lot 211, Marc Newson, "Black Hole" table, 1988 sold for $186,000, Lot 222 Tord Boontje, Come Rain, Come Shine chandelier, 2004 sold for $16,800 and a record was also set for the acclaimed architect and winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004, Zaha Hadid. The same will be true if the Priority Mail flat rate box is less expensive on multiple catalogs versus combined media mail.

Shipping via international - For the majority of our international buyers we default to USPS Priority Mail flat rate shipping. Please Note: We can sometimes fit two or more catalogs into one P.M. envelope within the 4 U.S. pound weight limit - BUT check with us first to make sure we can.
