Here on offer is a rare antique Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee pewter medal, 1887

 

This Golden Jubilee medal has been cast in pewter. It features the draped diademed bust of Victoria looking left. The legend around the image reads:

VICTORIA JUBILEE

 

On the reverse is the following inscription in embossed lettering:

VICTORIA REG. ET IMP

BORN 1819

CROWNED 1838

MARRIED 1840

JUBILEE YEAR 1887

UNDER HER WISE & BENIFICENT RULE

SCIENCE ART AND LIBERTY

HAVE RAPIDLY ADVANCED

HER EXAMPLE HAS ALWAYS

BLESSED THE PEOPLE

FOR WHOM FOR

FIFTY YEARS

SHE HAS PROSPERLY

REIGNED

 

The medal is offered in used antique condition, it is degraded, I have made no attempts at cleaning the coin, it is as found, please study the photos. The medal/coin has been pierced to aid the owner in wearing and displaying the piece. It measures about 3.8cm in diameter.

 

This Jubilee commemorative is rather rare and not often encountered, the price reflects the condition and rarity.

 

This would make a great addition to a themed collection.
