Description

This is a lightly circulated, still crispy, 2008 “Fifty Tugrik” note from the least densely populated nation on Earth, “Mongolia”. The nation is located between Russia on the north and China to the south. It covers an area of 603,909 square miles and has a population of just 3.3 million.

Mongolia is famed as the birthplace of the world’s greatest conqueror, “Temüjin” or, as he is better known. “Genghis Khan”. In 1206 AD he founded the “Mongol Empire” and went on to conquer more of the earth’s surface than anyone else ever has.

A lesser-known fact about Genghis Khan is that he introduced the first paper money. He used a very simple tactic to be sure it was widely accepted. You either took it as payment or you died.
