IMPORTANT JAPANESE SHOKAKUTSUKI KABUTO HELMET FROM THE 6th CENTURY
Japanese shokakutsuki samurai helmet, from the Kofun period (3rd century / 6th century).
Helmet with frontal parrot beak called "shokaku" or "shokaku tsuki", presenting a protuberance at the front, in the shape of an upside-down boat. was modified to lead to the helmet with assembled segments called "ibako shi kabuto", decorated with large rivets ("hoshi") holding the metal plates between them. It already had "fukigaeshi" intended to protect the cheeks by the fins curved outwards. Much later, the fukigaeshi will be completely folded back, pressed against the helmet.

The construction is riveted with flattened heads on the interior surfaces, domed on the exterior. The edge is perforated for attaching a camail or neck protection.
