A vintage modern sterling silver Georg Jensen tea and coffee set with tray with handles of guaiacum (a South American hardwood), design #1017 by Henning Koppel from circa 1952. A very sought-after design that won a gold medal at the Milan Triennial in 1954. A very organic design with nearly disguised hinged that hold the lids to the tea and coffee pot. The amount of exaggerated negative space at the handles gives a more three-dimensional look to the pots in this set. The tray is a circle in an ellipse form shell.  The fabrication of this set can only be achieved by the most seasoned silversmith; therefore, production numbers are limited.
