Vintage Department 56 Pieces are hand-painted crafted beautiful of pieces of porcelain- that's why it's so important to keep safe- using packing tape on the Styrofoam or not packing pieces in plastic can cause irreparable damage. I'm frequently un-happy with the plastics that China's factory used.

Some Production years- China's plastic, just after 2-3 years- disintegrated.

I can smell that horrible odor from 10 feet away- awful big mess!

Styrofoam will attach to the piece, accessories and the power cord.

Even though Department 56 factory plastic can still be viable- I replace with high end U-line plastic- so you can store safely for years. Always secure Styrofoam cases with shrink wrap.
