Bishop
was a commercial artist in the United States.
In 1917 and 1918, he
worked in the Camouflage Department
of the American Army, then studied
art in California.
He worked as a Set Designer in Hollywood
and for the
graphic art departments
in the U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S.
Public Health Service,
all the while illustrating books.
