Ginkgo biloba (Maidenhair Tree) is the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. It is found in fossils dating back 270 million years.

For growing: Ginkgo biloba seeds have a long germination period. You need to warm stratify the seeds for 6 to 8 weeks, and then cold stratify them for 6 to 8 weeks before potting them.

For eating: Cook the seeds by boiling until the shells split and the luminescent green nuts reveal themselves.

Even with careful storage, about 5 % of the seeds develop mould. Therefore, a few bonus seeds are added to your order.

The seeds have been stored in cold and dry space, so cold stratification is considered to be complete.
