RASTAFARIANISM & PAN AFRICAN IMPORTANCE: Rastafari spiritualism is Afrocentric - equating blackness with the African continent - thereby endorsing a form of Pan-Africanism. Rastas claim the colors and symbolism of the Ethiopian flag (green, gold and red) as it was used during the reign of Haile Selassie. They combine these colors with the conquering Lion of Judah as a symbol of the Ethiopian monarchy. Rastas endorse these color associations often with the addition of the color black symbolizing the skin of the African people. The colors represented on the Jamaican flag are gold, to symbolize the natural beauty of the sunlight and the minerals and raw materials which constitute Africa's wealth; green, to symbolize the hope and agricultural resources; and black, the strength and creativity of its people. In the 1920s, prior to the development of Rastafari and Jamaican liberation, Jamaican-American black nationalist activist Marcus Garvey founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League. The UNIA is still said to be the most influential anti-colonial organization in Jamaica prior to 1938. Garvey, who adopted red, green, and black as colors associated with this movement, described these colors as symbolizing the blood of martyrs (red), the skin of the African people (black) and the vegetation of the land (green). A tri-band flag consisting of three equal horizontal bands of red, black and green, it is designed to represent people of the African Diaspora. Despite not being Pan-African in its original conception, it has influenced the flags of many Pan-African organizations and policies. The meaningful and representative uses of these four colors are interchangeable with Black Power, Freedom, Justice and Liberation. States of the African Union which also use these colors include Angola: Red, Black, Gold; Benin: Green, Gold, Red; Cameroon: Green, Red, Gold; Republic of Congo: Green, Gold, Red; Ghana: Red, Gold, Green, Black; Guinea: Red, Gold, Green; Libya: Red, Black, Green; Malawi: Black, Red, Green; Mali: Green, Gold, Red; Mauritania: Gold, Green; Mozambique: Red, Green, Black, Gold; Senegal: Green, Gold, Red; and Zambia: Green, Red, Black, Gold

♡ All bracelets come with instruction tips on how to best care for your stretch bead bracelet.

HANDCRAFTED JEWELRY ~ Bracelets are constructed one at a time and therefore no two will be exactly alike. Due to variations in both materials and sourced supplies, slight imperfections are to be expected. Natural beads and stones often contain flaws, blemishes, variations and inclusions. I always do my best to accurately reproduce the designs portrayed in my shop. Please note also that photography presents differently on varying devices.

♡ CARE INSTRUCTIONS ♡

Your stretch bracelet is handcrafted to be strong and lasting, but elastic, stones, beads and metal plating are not eternal. Natural wear and tear will also affect your jewelry. By following these simple tips, however, you can maintain your jewelry’s beauty for as long as possible:

> DO NOT GET YOUR BRACELET WET ~ Keep your jewelry away from moisture. It is best to remove your bracelet before washing your hands, showering, exercising and swimming since contact with moisture can break down the elastic, ruin finishes and tarnish metals and charms.
> AVOID CONTACT WITH CHEMICALS ~ Perfume, soap, moisturizer, lotion, hand sanitizer or other chemicals can weaken the elastic, harm natural crystals and result in the discoloration and peeling of beads and gemstones.
> AVOID HEAT EXPOSURE ~ Leaving your bracelet in sunlight or exposed to heat for an extended period of time may lead to elastic erosion and can cause beads and metal to discolor. Remove your bracelet while exercising.
> ROLL IT ON AND OFF ~ Do not over-stretch your bracelet! It has been made with pre-stretched elastic. Over-stretching it beyond its capacity will cause it to break. To keep from overly stretching it to put it on and off, slide your fingers into the bracelet first, then gently roll the beads over your knuckles and then onto your wrist. Do the same when taking your bracelet off.
> STORE SAFELY ~ Always store your jewelry safely in a soft pouch or secured in a box or drawer. Never wear your jewelry to bed and remove when sleeping.
