We have been buying and selling on EBay (aside from our online business and web site) Since 1999.  In that time we have seen the gamut of "stuff" that happens from poorly described products to creative tricks and what have you.  The bulk of the collectible Diecasts we are selling are left-over stock from a store plus the pristine "investment" (untouched, unboxed, never displayed) collection of an aircraft buff, even multiples of the same item.  When it comes to these collectible items, the Box and contents are for serious collectors, both equally important.  Listing an item as "New" may be correct, but if it was handled by King Kong Bundy, The Refrigerator Perry, Dave Semenko or Zinedine Zidane  :) they may show signs of the confrontation.  I try to describe anything of importance so that you will be satisfied the item you receive will match what is described.
