Do you remember film strips? They were used in classrooms as an educational slide show. Instead of individually mounted slides, they were on a short roll of film, each roll stored in a small metal can. A special projector with lots of fumbling, trial and error was required for every show. This strip runs vertically as opposed to some of the others I've listed that are horizontally oriented.

Here's a 35 mm format film strip on the topic of PRIMITIVE INDUSTRIES. The title image credits Still Film Incorporated of Los Angeles. The label on top of the can is written by hand.

This strip includes photos of ancient methods people created to automate and improve efficiency of menial and difficult tasks. Examples range from lifting water out of the ground to making shoes.

A very nice, clean copy with few scratches and and little wear. There are cinch marks especially near the end as these often had to be rewound by hand. There are 36 frames, it has a 7 inch leader and 7 inch tail. The images are clear with excellent contrast - interesting staged photos as well as live documentary photos.

The images provide a step back in history as the story was told almost a century ago. There's no date but others in the same hoard of old strips I've acquired are from the 1920s or there about.

The little steel film can is tarnished but clean on the outside and shiny-bright on the inside. The label on the side is intact and reads "PRIMITIVE INDUSTRIES." The can was easy to open but nicely sealed and has protected the film strip from dust and moisture all these decades. Except for the damaged areas mentioned above, the b&w Kodak Safety Film inside is well preserved, flexible, tough and clean.

I was surprised to notice that the film is emulsion up at right reading. That just means it's backwards to the normal way emulsions are oriented on our color slide films for example.

I have photographed a few choice frames on a light table so you can get the feel of the strip. See several other film stripped listed at my other sales.
