Beautiful set specimens of the Death's-head Hawk-moth (Acherontia atropos).
The Death's-head Hawk-moth is the largest of the hawk-moths found in this country, they are an immigrant flying here from the warmer countries in Europe and many originate from Africa, unfortunately they are not able to survive our cool winters.
These moths are A1 quality examples, they are bred and set by myself.
The sizes are naturally different, females are generally larger than males so sizes reflect nature.
You may notice that the fore legs of the moths are extended to the front, this is consistent with correct setting procedure, as far as collectors are concerned, and has historically been the way to set all hawk-moths.Other moths do not have the front legs extended forward.
Should you prefer the specimens without the front legs extended, or with front and rear extended, just ask, although it might take a few days to set and dry them.
For the collectors who wish to purchase for their collections please indicate your desire for a data label.
They are being sold in pairs which will be one female and one male, larger quantities can be accommodated and please see the discounts available for multiple purchases.
Regarding delivery, your specimens will be sent by 'first class-next day delivery'. Set specimens will be double cross pinned and fixed on a dense foam backing within a box, this will be within a second, double walled box. atropos are tough but I cannot be responsible for a detached antennae due to rough handling within the postal system.
