Each chapter is accompanied by the vivid illustrations of artist J. Augustus Knapp, with additional images by Mihran Serailian found in the companion volume, each taking their own unique approach to nearly 60 artworks depicting occult subject matter.
The initial concept for what became known as Hall’s “Great Book”, first began in 1923 when the young Los Angeles-based orator began a months-long trip around the globe. Circumnavigating by ship, Hall visited Egypt, China and India, immersing himself in the philosophical and religious history of each country. Upon his return he spent the next five years penning his massive compendium of philosophy and myth.
Nearly a century after its release, this iconic masterwork has been reproduced for the first time from the rare and extravagant original edition. This meticulously-restored version of Hall’s “Great Book” is also accompanied by an expansive companion book, featuring condensed summaries of each chapter of The Secret Teachings, alongside newly-discovered artworks, rare photography from Hall’s archives as well as essays from journalists Mitch Horowitz and Jessica Hundley.
The four special edition prints were selected from the many artworks originally created for the first edition of The Secret Teachings of All Ages.
Rarely seen and only recently discovered in the archives at the Philosophical Research Society, these works were first commissioned by Manly P. Hall and were created by his frequent artistic collaborators, J.A. Knapp and M.K. Serailian.
The Secret Teachings of all Ages is both famed in it's own Rosy Crux circles, and at the same time is so little known that there are probably thousands of books that have used it as a reference work; some may not even know that their quotes from other great references are actually taking their inspiration from Hall who dedicated a great deal of his life just to this book's completion. There are hundreds of illustrations in full color, and is one of the few books I have ever seen that truly can be called a work of art - the traditions of illuminated manuscripts and other post-Christian era occult works.
This is not an ordinary book. Even getting through a few chapters can take all the concentration a gifted scholar is able to muster. Yet if you take the time to absorb the wealth of knowledge contained herein - you will have a better education in mysticism and the occult than most!

ABOUT MANLY P. HALL - Hall (1901-1990) was a Canadian-born scholar and philosopher and. He authored dozens of books and hundreds of essays and gave thousands of lectures in Los Angeles and throughout the world. In 1934, Hall founded the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the study of religion, mythology, metaphysics, and the occult and was its first president, remaining so until his death in 1990. The Philosophical Research Society continues to carry on his mission to provide resources for those who seek practical and profound wisdom for the 21st century. On 8 December 1973 (47 years after writing The Secret Teachings of All Ages), Hall was recognized as a 33° Mason (the highest honor conferred by the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite)
