You can lacquer seal the decals but only two or three very light dust coats and not over wetting the vinyl or you will fry it...

These are only suitable for use on air drying paint as used by the OEM manufacturer. Oven bake paint processes will crack over time so only bake for display use only.

The vinyl will withstand all weather conditions for years not forgetting heavy washing, both of which are a must have requirement.

Q. Clear Coat lacquer, Powder Coating, or Hammerite paint use. (clear coat is OK but do not use powder or Hammerite)

A. The Powder-coating process is not a process you should use for brake calipers or road wheels so please read the application instructions provided with your decal sticker for full instructions. The correct paint types are Halfords or VHT caliper paint (https://www.vhtpaint.com) paints to avoid are Hammerite or Power coated surfaces which are not suitable for vinyl decals except for show use only.

When correctly painted using air-drying paint you can then apply the decal which you can seal with a few very light dust coats of clear lacquer which is a must for all our two colour printed decals making sure there are no air bubbles in the vinyl as it will bubble and allowing to semi-dry between coats making sure you do not over-wet the decal or it will blister.

P.S. Hammerite or Powder Coat (plastic) surfaces leaf a greasy resin residue on the surface which prevents the vinyl adhesive from keying to the surface correctly. These types of paint finishes must not be used which will eventually dry out and become very brittle which is not suitable for brake calipers or wheels due to consistent expanding & contracting not to mention the wheel flexing.

Q. Can the decals be baked in a oven?

A. The vinyl is a special hi-temperature vinyl which can be applied to the brake calliper outer surface in the same place as the OEM decal or screen print. It can also be used on short heat bake applications like surf board graphics up to 175c baking for 10 minutes but must be placed inside a vacuum bag to hold the vinyl flat against the surface as it will bubble if there is any air trapped under the vinyl this is the only vinyl in the world able to do this and why the decals cost more as we don’t make the cheap decals. Please note that colours may darken slightly due to the baking process.
