Asterix conquered Europe ironically by keeping his tiny village in Gaul from being conquered by the Roman Empire. Turns out, Asterix and his fellow villagers have a secret weapon, a potion that imbues them all with super strength. But the Romans aren’t about to give up no matter how many times Asterix and his friends fend them off. These classic comics are not only incredibly entertaining, but the historic figures are brought to life in a way that’s exciting and humanizing, providing educational elements similar to the Geronimo Stilton graphic novels.
VOLUME 3
One of the world’s greatest comics characters, the ever-fearless Asterix, continues to battle supposedly unbeatable odds to protect his tiny village from the Roman Empire. Fortunately, all of the villagers have super-strength thanks to a secret potion. In “Asterix and the Big Fight,” one of the three classic Asterix graphic novels collected here, the Romans are beginning to wise up. Instead of trying to conquer Asterix’s village, the Roman’s challenge Vitalstatistx, chief of Asterix’s tribe, to a one on one battle with the Gallo-Roman Chief, Cassius Ceramix of Linoleum. As per Ancient Gaulish customs, the loser would forfeit his entire tribe to the winner. “Asterix in Britain,” the Romans have conquered all of Britain except for a single village in Kent. Sound familiar? Anticlimax, a member of that British village, travels to Gaul to seek help from his first cousin once removed, Asterix. Together, with Obelix, they decide to bring back a barrel full of the secret potion that imbues anyone with super-strength, but word leaks out, and the Romans will do anything they can to thwart this rescue mission. Finally, in “Asterix and the Normans,” Asterix encounters a group of Normans who want to learn all about fear, and that's just the tip of the iceberg as far as how many strange and crazy things happen in this particular adventure. We won’t even mention which pop star is parodied in this story! Just when you think you know what to expect in Asterix, the creators Goscinny and Uderzo throw things at you that you never could’ve imagined. That’s probably why Asterix remains such a successful comics character to this day!
VOLUME 4
In “Asterix the Legionary,” one of the three classic Asterix graphic novels collected here, Asterix and Obelix do as the Romans do and join the Roman Legion in hopes to get closer to Obelix’s big crush in the process. Instead, the troops are sent far from Gaul to North Africa. Then, in “Asterix and the Chieftain’s Shield” with the village chief away, Caesar and his men come to play—and get their hands on a priceless Gaul shield! Asterix must foil their search and protect his village. Then Asterix heads to Greece to participate in the Olympic games. But how do the Gauls register themselves? As Romans? And is their powerful potion an ancient form of performance enhancers? It’s an international bout for the ages and just when you think you know what to expect in Asterix, the creators Goscinny and Uderzo throw things at you that you never could’ve imagined.

Could Cacofonix the Bard finally find a culture that enjoys his awful singing? “Asterix and the Roman Agent,” starts when rumors are spread that Asterix leaked the recipe for the power potion to Rome Asterix must find who started these terrible rumors. Then, the villagers are tempted with “The Mansion of the Gods” with all the modern luxuries of Rome when a new housing development threatens to urbanize (and Romanize) their humble tribe. Finally, it is a true Roman circus as Obelix and Asterix head to Rome to get a key ingredient to the Chieftain’s soup, Caesar’s Laurel Wreath. What will become of “Asterix and the Laurel Wreath” and will Rome ever be the same? These three classic graphic novels are newly translated especially for an American audience. Second, Obelix gets the spotlight as his delivery service for stone menhir slabs gets a Roman update, becoming “Obelix and Co.” Will Obelix be too greedy? Probably! Then, third, watch your waffles, it’s “Asterix in Belgium,” writer and Asterix co-creator René Goscinny’s final story before his untimely death. 2. Will you please hold an item for me until I get paid next week?
I'm sorry, but no. I rely on eBay for my income and as such I can't hold items. Albert likes high priced cat food and I hate to disappoint him.
3. How soon will you ship my item?
I ship the next business day from Monday through Friday. If you purchase an item and pay for it on Tuesday, for example, it will be packaged Tuesday night and sent out with my mail carrier on Wednesday. Items paid for on the weekend will be shipped on Monday.
