James Cantlie was a leading physician (pioneer of first aid techniques) and Dean of the College of Medicine in Hong Kong, where Sun Yat Sen was one of his students. He was instrumental in securing Sun Yat Sen's release after his kidnapping in London in 1896 by the Chinese Imperial secret service. 

Ex-library, otherwise near Very Good with moderate wear, pages yellowed with occasional foxing, smudges and minor blemishes, binding has incipient cracking, remains reasonably firm.
