WARSHIPS
FROM THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR TO THE FALKLANDS CONFLICT AND BEYOND
(NORMAN POLMAR & NORMAN
FRIEDMAN)
Warship tells the story of fighting
vessels and naval warfare since sail gave way to steam in the 19th
century. It describes the major
developments in hull design, guns and armour, the evolution of the dreadnought,
submarine, and aircraft carrier, the great sea battles of two world wars, and
the Falklands naval campaign. The ways
in which electronics and nuclear power are shaping today’s navies are discussed
in detail.
