WARSHIPS

FROM THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR TO THE FALKLANDS CONFLICT AND BEYOND

(NORMAN POLMAR & NORMAN FRIEDMAN)

Warship tells the story of fighting vessels and naval warfare since sail gave way to steam in the 19th century.  It describes the major developments in hull design, guns and armour, the evolution of the dreadnought, submarine, and aircraft carrier, the great sea battles of two world wars, and the Falklands naval campaign.  The ways in which electronics and nuclear power are shaping today’s navies are discussed in detail.

This 1984 edition hardback publication is in very good overall condition.  The pages are tightly bound and are free from tears, creases, and significant marks.  The printed hardboard covers displays minimal rubbing and only light knocks to the edges and corners (see photograph).  The book runs to 88 large format pages (23.5cm x 14.5cm), includes a working index and is well illustrated throughout with many illustrations and photographs in colour.
