Plant Description:

In the aquarium, Cryptocorynes are sometimes referred to as Crypts or water trumpets. These plants do best when planted directly into the substrate. While water trumpets are very hardy aquarium plants that do well in a variety of water conditions, these plants are sensitive to drastic changes in water chemistry. When first planted in a new aquarium, this plant may shed its leaves known as “crypt melt” as it adjusts to its new environment. This behavior is normal and can be predicted, once acclimatized to its new living conditions it will again flourish and grow. Aponegetifolia is ideal for large or deep aquariums and is one of the few plants that can be kept with cichlid due to its strong leaf structure.
