"This recording of music from Arnhem Land dwellers dates back to an expedition from a group of apparently naïve Czech ethnomusicologists in 1969, now reissued. They make a vague attempt to cover all of the major styles of the various tribes in the region, and do a pretty good job in general. One of the nicer features of this album is the focus on song, which is really the focus of Aboriginal music (as opposed to many newer compilations), with the didgeridoo taking a third-place standing behind the song and the clapsticks -- despite the title of the disc, this is also what the recorders focused on, as well they should have. A note to the newcomer to Aboriginal music: This is often an acquired taste, and one should approach with caution.
