Elsmore Forster ironstone, Ceres, Copper Luster Wheat coffee pot/pitcher c.1855

Description:  Offering mid-19th century ironstone coffee pot or tall pitcher.  The lid is not available. The pot has a copper luster wheat pattern, in the Ceres shape from Elsmore & Forster of Tunstall, Staffordshire, England. The wheat pattern is textured wheat ears and leaves in a ribbon. Hand Painted. Extraordinary decoration on the spout’s base. The glaze is a shiny, light-reflective copper luster.  Tunstall is a constituent town in the area of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. It is the most northern, and fourth largest town of the “Potteries”.

Maker’s Mark: Circular mark: “Elsmore & Forster Tunstall Ceres Shape” with a diamond center mark, with additional detail. Diamond marks were used for Great Britain registration from 1842 to 1867.

Dimensions: 9” tall an approximately 10” wide from spout to handle. Opening diameter of 3½”.

Condition:  EXCELLENT for its age. No major flaws. No scratches, chips, cracks. Crazing expected of an item this age and minor stain on the bottom rim. Small stain inside. Some residue on the handle. Please enlarge and examine all photos for a complete condition assessment.
