A collection of over 100 pieces includes works by Minton, George Jones and Wedgwood, together with a wide variety of decorative English, Continental and American Majolica. Followed by an auction of art tiles, including a fine and large private collection of Majolica glazed tiles. It will include several hundred tiles and tile panels. American makers will include the extremely popular Grueby pottery, Marblehead, Rookwood, Owens, and Wheatley, an extensive collection of Moravian tiles, a rare Van Briggle tile, as will a broad collection of architectural terra-cotta designed by George Elmslie for two Indiana schools. 19th Century tiles from here and abroad will make up a good portion of the sale. Some fine and rare hand-painted panels by Charles Volkmar, ca. 1880, will be sold alongside examples from all the best American Victorian tile-makers, such as J. & J.G. Low (including plastic sketches), the American Encaustic Tiling Company, the Trent tile company, Providential, Old Bridge, and U.S. Encaustic. California companies, having come into recent popularity, will be represented by Claycraft, Tudor, and Batchelder, among others. Harris Strong, will be represented with a variety of panels done in the 1950s and ‘60s..An extensive collection of European Art Nouveau will be offered for the first time, including several fine panels and trays with tiles from the German firm of Johann Von Schwarz. Several other German, Belgian, and French tile makers’ 6” tiles will be available, either as single pieces, or most often, in groups to use as friezes for walls, fireplace surrounds, or simply, to be mounted in frames and displayed. The auction will offer many Dutch tiles by Rozenburg and De Porceleyne Fles . English companies will include Minton’s, Pilkington’s, Sherwin & Cotton, William de Morgan.

The same will be true if the Priority Mail flat rate box is less expensive on multiple catalogs versus combined media mail.

Shipping via international - For the majority of our international buyers we default to USPS Priority Mail flat rate shipping. Please Note: We can sometimes fit two or more catalogs into one P.M. envelope within the 4 U.S. pound weight limit - BUT check with us first to make sure we can. With USPS Priority Mail flat rate box we can fit up to 7 to 10 catalogs depending on the size into one box within the 20 U.S. pound weight limit - great savings on shipping multiple catalogs.
