First edition in book form, mixed state, with the corrected text, "sister" instead of "visiter" on p.123, line 17, but with the uncorrected text, "latter" for "letter" on p.160, the sixth line up. Octavo: xvi, 624 p. with thirty-nine plates by Hablot K. Browne and an engraved frontispiece portrait. Quarter tan calf over marbled boards, spine ruled in gilt and blind, with brown morocco label, marbled edges. New endpapers, nineteenth century bookseller's label preserved. Portrait foxed, some lighter foxing to other plates, last three plates have some light marginal dampstaining; otherwise very good. Eckel, p.64; Gimbel A41; Smith I, 5.

The author's third novel, originally published as a serial from 1838 to 1839. The story centers on the life and adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, a young man who must support his mother and sister after his father dies. Very good.
