Complete Nikon Optiphot 2 Microscope with DIC and Fluorescence

Description and Condition

For sale an incredible microscope stand complete with DIC optics and fluorescence. The Nikon Optiphot 2 stand was the final research stand made before Nikon switched from 160mm TL design to infinity optics. This platform is very comfortable to use, robust, and exceptional optics.

This set includes the Universal Condenser A with a 1.4 NA oil-immersion top lens, complete with phase annuli and DIC prisms for 10/20x, 40x, and 100x. The included lenses match perfectly and are all the "CF Plan DIC" strain free versions:

The upper DIC prism slider is included and fits into the 1.25x intermediate tube. A trinocular head is complete with 10x/20 CFWN eyepieces and is fitted with a 1x c-mount adapter for attaching a scientific camera (as shown with the Jenoptick ProgRes camera in the photos). Both the substage polarizer and analyzer slider are included for differential interference contrast.

The fluorescence system is comprised of a 100W HBO lamphouse, HB-10103AF power supply, EFD-3 illuminator, and filters sets for FITC and Texas Red with two open spots. All irises and ND filters in the illuminator are present and working. The transmitted light illumination is provided by a powerful 100w Halogen lamphouse.

This set provides a stunning DIC image both through the eyepieces and on to the camera. Easy to use, easy to align, it is the best finite microscope setup I have had the pleasure to use. All necessary cords and cables will be included.

Condition:

The area where your arms rest have been cleaned of the sticky material that often plagues these stands. This "soft touch" coating degrades over time, so I removed it down to the bare plastic - the feel is much better, but there are some scratches on this are of the stand. The EFD-3 fluorescence illuminator is missing one of the end caps, a simple metal piece that was held on with a magnet - easily replaced with a 3D printed part or even tape. The age of the HBO bulb is unknown, but is working well. The fluorescence filters are likely degraded and would warrant replacement for best viewing (look for Chroma, Semrock, etc. for replacements). Lastly, the analyzer slider has a small amount of delamination on one edge (not the DIC prism, just the simple polarizer portion).

If you choose the "Buy-it-now" option, I will include the Jenoptik ProgRes CF Scan camera at no cost. This high resolution color camera captures images up to 12.5MP with a novel pixel-shifting technique. The capture software comes free with the camera. I will also include several additional Halogen lamps for free.
