"The Silver Dollar was authorized by the Act of April 2, 1792, which also authorized and established the United States Mint and created our nation’s coinage.  One of the rarest and most important silver dollars, the 1794 Flowing Hair designed by Chief Engraver Robert Scot was the first of its kind and a major numismatic rarity with a total mintage of 1,758.

2 ounce round portrays Lady Liberty with free-flowing hair on her neck and back facing right, with the word “LIBERTY” above and a total of 15 stars, eight to the left, and seven on the right honoring the number of states that made up the Union at the time."
