My best tip is to get your favorite shirt, pants, or coat that fits you well and lay it flat on the floor. Take a pit-to-pit measurement and a bottom of the collar to the bottom of the shirt measurement. Or pants waist and inseam measurements. If it matches close to our measurements, then it should fit.
