Gothic mirror in the style of Gabriel Viardot.

Viardot is famous for his exotic "Japonisme" forniture but also for his gothic mirrors with dragons. These were inspired by writers and painters of the time.

This mirror is probably made at the end of the   XIX or early XX century by a local artisan.

The wood is very well carved with artistry and wit lot of details. The fancy dragon in the act of blowing flames is grabbing a round beveled mirror. The head is  carved in the back also.

The scene is powerful and evocative of the past epic dark times, a fantasy that goes from "The castle of Otranto" to "Harry Potter".

The conditions are as in pictures.

The back  is signed by "Pellini".
