What is an Australian Price Variant?
Australian Price Variants (APV) are Marvel US First Run Printed Books that were printed in the USA and then exclusivly released on Newsstands in Australia over 2 specific time periods in the 1990’s. They are identical to the US release books except that the price is in $AUS and the first batch run also had different month printed on the cover.
Why does it matter?
APV’s were low print run books (low thousands) - available only direct from Marvel US to Australian Retailers. All unsold copies were destroyed as per the normal procedure of the day. So not only are these books rare, but it's virtually impossible to find high grade copies as very few Comic book shops sold them directly to collectors. They’ve only recently been recognised as Price Variants by CBCS, CGC & Overstreet.
