Here's a beautiful sterling silver horse racing trophy won by the nice mare Bountiful Dreamer in the 1998 California Cup Distaff at Santa Anita Park. This is a pretty large trophy and the top bowl is all sterling silver and made by noted silversmith Kirk Stieff. The bowl has a gold tone Cal Cup logo and an engraving saying Ben P. Walden, Sr. California Cup Distaff, October 31, 1998.

The base is made of wood with a metal plaque (not sure if the plaque is sterling or not) and it says:
Won by: Bountiful Dreamer
Owned by: Oakcrest Stable
Bred by: John Barr
Trained by: John W. Sadler

The sterling silver bowl measures a bit more than 10" across and about 5.5" high. It has some nice weight to it at 958 grams (2 pounds, 1.8 ounces) of sterling silver. The base is about 5" high and weighs 4 pounds, so the entire piece is more than 6 pounds and about 10" high.

The bowl is in great condition with just some minor surface scratches, as there generally is on sterling pieces. It could use a little cleaning, especially the Cal Cup logo part. The base has several nicks and scuffs, but still presents very well.

This has a weight of 664 grams (23.5 ounces) and is in great condition. It has some minor surface scratching, as nearly all vintage sterling pieces do, and it could use a bit of a cleaning, but there are no dents, dings or significant scratches. This measures about 8 1/2 inches across and 11 inches lengthwise (including the stem). It stands about 5 inches high.
