This is another amazing item given to me by one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. A moved an elderly gentleman into an assisted living facility and after talking to him learned that he has outlived his family. He actually offered me everything in his home in barter for me to visit him two or three times a month. I would have gladly visited him without a trade. This man is amazing and I keep learning more about him along with the items he gave me. I asked him about this can, because I did not know much about it. I can’t figure out how to open this. It turns out he did not know much about it. His wife bought it in what he called one of her “crazy” tag sale purchases. She collected old stuff, although he called it a different word lol. He think she bought this in Rhode Island. They used to go to a shop and a lot of tag sales during the summer.
Online this appears to be an oil can. It looks like many of these were used in lighthouses so Rhode Island makes sense. This is brass. When I got it this was dark in color. However after polishing this the color looks fantastic. There are a couple of dents and scratches, nothing major. There are a few areas that did not polish out. I tried to take pictures from all angles to show you the top and the bottom. This is 12 inches from spout to end of handle.
Lately it seems that every job I do, my clients have been providing me with items they either no longer need, want or have room for. My reputation as a mover has always been very good, but my eBay store reputation is growing rather quickly. I literally get calls from clients asking me if I would be interested in selling things for them. I am so grateful to be offered these belongings. I get a little bit of everything.
