Orville Wright (1871-1948), Inventor, builder and pilot flying the world's first successful motor-operated airplane, the Wright Flyer with his brother Wilbur, pioneering the use of flight control systems for fixed-wing aircraft. Handwritten note and signature in blue ink on souvenir post card depicting the monument erected at Kitty Hawk, N.C. in 1928 with the inscription "Kitty Hawk will forever be remembered for the work the Wright Bothers did there". The note written in Orville's hand states the "The dates on this card are mostly wrong". The collector added cut outs of the Wright Brothers to the front of the card, 2c Washington stamp tied by May 2, 1928 Kitty Hawk postmark. Light corner bend at LR not affecting the signature.
