Even though this material is clean when we receive it, we are able to pull a significant amount of herb dust, and other debris, from it when processed.

Tea is a recommended way to use Lobelia for medicinal purposes because it can be taken in very small doses and does not involve consuming the herb directly. Say a 1/4 to a 1/2 of a teaspoon ( not a tablespoon ) per 12 to 18 ounces of water.

Lobelia is a strange herb with a strange history. It was used in smoking cessation products until the FDA concluded that there was no viable evidence that it is effective. The main active compound in Lobelia Leaf is Lobeline. A stimulant and non-addictive distant relative of nicotine that may be able to activate nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the brain.

It has also been used to induce vomiting like tobacco. Strangely, Lobelia Extract is currently used in products that reduce nausea caused from quitting tobacco.

Lobelia should not be used during pregnancy or while nursing and may cause nausea and vomiting if ingested. Do not take in large doses. Lobelia should, possibly, not be used regularly or over a long period of time. Pregnant or nursing women & persons with health problems must consult a physician before use.

Lobelia is poisonous to animals and should be kept away from pets.
